About Stefanie
Stef loves to work with young adults and adults who struggle with the need to control or who feel stuck in the perfection cycle. Stef brings a calm, down to earth energy with a touch of humor. She really enjoys working with those struggling with food & body image concerns, social anxiety & other stress and anxiety.
Stefanie provides therapy for adolescents 16+ and adults. She specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders, eating and body image concerns, OCD, substance use concerns, attachment issues as well as self-esteem and identity issues. Her passion is in walking with others on their journey to identifying and loving who they are. She is dually licensed as an addictions specialist and clinical social worker. Her most commonly used therapeutic approaches are cognitive-behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. Faith based counseling is also available upon request. Stefanie is mindful of cultural & developmental influences on treatment. Treatment is tailored to the individual’s needs, concerns and preferences.
Stefanie would describe her style as compassionate and down to earth, but direct with providing accountability and next steps for her client's to take on their own, outside of the therapy space. Stefanie empowers her clients to gain the tools and skills to create the changes that they desire in their life. Stefanie's goal is to create a safe environment to manifest self-awareness and acceptance, to awaken the motivation for change. Her favorite part of therapy is assisting in finding what sets you free and fires you up about life. She feels called to working with those who feel something missing from their lives, to find a sense of freedom and a love for who they are.
Stefanie earned a Clinical Master’s of Science in Social Work degree from Columbia University in New York City and a B.S.W. degree from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, graduating as valedictorian of her class. Stefanie has worked in the prison setting, led an intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment group and in private practice and has been in the field for 8 years.
