About Shaina
Shaina is dedicated to supporting modern adults and college students who are navigating the stress of contemporary life, particularly those dealing with anxiety, perfectionism, or depression. With her naturally warm demeanor, sharp wit, and collaborative approach, Shaina fearlessly assists her clients in addressing their challenges. She combines compassion with straightforwardness, embracing the inevitable messiness of the human experience.
Shaina is passionate about treating all types of anxiety, with a particular focus on high-functioning anxiety and burnout. She identifies three common behaviors in her anxious and overwhelmed clients: perfecting, performing, and people-pleasing. Shaina understands all too well how common these patterns are, recognizing that many women spend a significant part of their lives caught in this cycle before they ever seek help.
Utilizing a blend of mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), Shaina supports her clients by providing tools based on research and evidence-based care. She helps her clients stop saying "yes" when they want to say "no," reconnect with their true priorities, and learn how to put themselves first without drowning in guilt.
Shaina earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver. With nearly a decade of experience in psychology, she has been shaped by her diverse roles in private practice, hospital settings, non-profit organizations, and research labs. Having called Wilmington home for most of her life, Shaina feels eternally grateful to enjoy its coastal beauty with her two rescue dogs, Wallace and Willow, always by her side.
